Turkey - Assos

A former home of Aristotle and his philosophy school (340 BC), Assos is a fabulous site on the Aegean coast. The tiny fishing village is quiet and beautiful. However, beware of all the cats. They peed on some purses that were on the ground while we were eating outside.
Early mornings you can watch the fishermen head out to see on the colourful boats. Try the almond caramel ice cream sold in the village.
Nazlihan Boutique Hotel The hotel is right on the water but very few rooms get a water view. There are two buildings that make up the hotel. In the main building the rooms on the top floor are awful. They have slanted ceilings and no windows. There is a tiny slit of a window at the floor area. Most of the rooms in the hotel have double beds (not queen) and a couch that folds into a bed - not really suitable for singles travelling together. The rooms and bathrooms are very, very small. I was lucky to have a corner room and was on my own. I don't know how I would have shared it with anyone else unless I was on my honeymoon. The view of the sea was gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were good. There are other hotels on this tiny port that are probably better.
