"Rivendale" near Wilderswil, Interlocken"

For "Lord of the Rings" fans: It is said that Toilkin was so impressed with this mountain scenery that he based his description of Rivendell on it. From Wilderswil, take the cog-wheel train up to Schynige Platte. Using your imagination you can see the shire, trolls, and maybe Weathertop. The train was there when Tolkein visited. Lauterbrunnen means 'loud spring' or 'loud water,' and in June you can hear the roar of the river. You'll see the tall pine trees on steep hills as well as the snow-covered peaks beyond.
Wilderswil near Interlaken, is a great location for your visit. It is near train station and trains up to mountain locations. There are free passes to take train or bus to and from Interlaken. See my review for Hotel Steinbock in Wilderswil on Trip Advisor.
