Canada - Stratford, Ontario

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is a repertory theatre festival, permanently located in Stratford, Ontario  www.stratfordfestival.ca

Shakespeare's plays were meant to be seen, not to be read.

Saw "Much Ado About Nothing." These actors know how to speak 'Shakespeare' in a way that is understandable for today's ears. The cast had the audience filled with laughter. It was truly a delightful performance and I look forward to returning

Stone Maiden Inn B & B, 123 Church Street:  This B&B has all the charm and friendliness that attracts people to stay in B&Bs. I stayed in the only room that doesn't have an en suite (a good value!). The bathroom was across the hall and only used by me. They even provided robes. The breakfast has delicious selections. Their fresh biscuits were amazing. The rooms I saw were small but nicely appointed. Wifi is free and works well. The owners are really updating the place but keeping the charm of an 1870 home. There is also ample free parking. It is very walkable to town and all the restaurants, as well as to the Shakespearean theatres.

Bijou Restaurant, 105 Erie St. (entrance off parking lot). The fixed price meals aren't inexpensive, but they are delicious! Staff and atmosphere quite nice. The scallops were tasty and tender. Their garlic soup is a winner.
